around the house

Our house is an ongoing project. Some days I just want it to all be done and look the way I want but I like making most everything myself (or with Matt's help:) ) so it all takes time.

The orange bathroom is pretty much done to my liking. Just have one more idea of making a shelf for over the toilet and then I think it will be done. I got most of my prints from here and one from here, minus two I made myself. Best thing is that they're all free!

Matt helped me make this towel rack. I used an assortment of knobs that match the color scheme. Both towel racks in the house can really only fit one towel so we replaced this one.

I painted the canvas... notice the shower curtain is sticking out as the little man was hiding behind it.

I found this item (I don't know what to call it) at a yard sale for $5. The picture below is what it looked like before I got a hold of it, actually I had already ripped the pictures off before I remembered to take a picture.

This is after painting it and replacing the hooks with glass knobs. Btw, Hobby Lobby has a great selection of knobs and that is where I have gotten all of mine from. It's now where I hand my clean aprons in the kitchen.

I said awhile back that I would put a picture up of these shelves along with a link to instructions. I'm finally happy with the accessories so I figured now was the time. I made the rejoice art and some of my nieces made the fabric flowers and painted the jar they're in. These shelves were really easy to make and were a told of $10 for both! I was surprised to find out these shelves cost about $24 a piece from the store. I used this ladies instructions but cut the shelf in half to make two 24" shelves. Well to be honest, Matt did the cutting...and the installing. He's so great at helping me with all my ideas (even when they're crazy) and he has fun doing it with me. I told him one day Riley will be able to help me and he won't have to anymore but he said he still wants to be the one to help. :)

And the last project for today is this chair I found for $10 at a new thrift store in town. I repainted it white, since it was a bad paint job of cream trying to cover a previous white. I also recovered the seat. It was gross to see the amount of sand that came out when I took the fabric off. I didn't realize I had a sand bag in my house!

Girl! You rock! Seriously I love all your creativity. Your bathroom is so pretty. I can't wait to have a house to decorate again someday. In the meantime I just collect ideas in this jammed brain of mine. :)
