boy's birthday

It's already been a week since the little man's birthday and I'm finally getting around to posting pictures.

Surprisingly he left the hat on.

Matt took this one with his phone.

I had to post all of the following pictures as it was the stages he went through with the cake. Thanks Joy for capturing these for me.

He starting bawling...

then calmed down for a minute...

and cried again.

We took the candle out and he was a little better about it but still not sure about it. I'm not sure if it was the candle, cake, singing or the combination of it all.

He definitely LOVED eating it and ate every bit of cake and ice cream we gave him!

Little Bit did too!

He certainly acts like he knows what money is and when he found some in a card he would grab it right up and hold on to it. I love his little feet crossed in the picture too.

So many new toys to play with, he didn't know what to play with first.

A year ago today I woke up in labor and at 7:40pm we welcomed Riley Preston into the world. It is so hard for this mommy to believe that a year has already gone by and my little baby has turned into a little boy. I love watching Riley grow and change but at the same time I wish he would just stay a baby forever! Riley has brought much joy, laughter and some frustration to our lives over the last year. I won't lie, raising a child is tough but it is also so much fun. I wouldn't trade my job for anything.

I thought I would go back over the last year and post pictures.

This was right after Riley was born. The nurses thought I was crazy for taking pictures right after having a baby.

He is seriously on the verge of taking off walking on his own. He will walk to us but doesn't see the need to walk on his own initiative. He has gotten a LOT better about playing by himself instead of following you all around the house wanting you to give him attention all the time. He has seven teeth and cut the seventh one without me even realizing. Thankfully he has been a good teether, so far anyways. He sometimes says "hello" when he picks up a phone but no "momma" yet. :(

the beach

Two weekends ago we went to the beach for one of our nieces birthday parties. It was a gorgeous day for the beach! The guys weren't crazy over the fact that the waves weren't that great but they were perfect for me. Riley wasn't sure about how cold the water was but he got use to it.
